Digital Literacy
The abilities required to successfully navigate and prosper in the digital world are included in digital literacy. It entails knowing how to utilize technology efficiently, assessing information critically, safeguarding privacy, and using caution when using the internet. Improving one's digital literacy gives people the ability to actively engage in the digital environment and make educated judgments.
Digital Literacy & Social Media Presence
Digital Literacy
The Community Tech Network is based in California and uses Facebook to reach it's target audience. The Community Tech Network Facebook page is dedicated to assisting older adults with access to digital technology. This Facebook page 's works by educating the marginalized and underprivileged in digital literacy, "Community Tech Network changes lives. At-risk elders are trained remotely through our Home Connect program, and we also assist in providing low-cost broadband, tablets, and digital coaching." (Community Tech Network, 2024). The Community Tech Network Facebook page has 1,000 followers, so I'm unsure how effective the efforts are nationwide. I do see that the Community Tech Network . When looking through the posts & they really market the idea of increasing digital equity & access to older adults.

NCW Tech Alliance is based in North Central Washington. NCW uses Facebook to publicize it's different tech related events that are hosted around Washington. "NCW Tech alliance brings people and technology resources together to support entrepreneurs, STEM education, and technology adoption in North Central Washington." (NCW Tech Alliance, 2022). According to Facebook has 2, 500 thousand followers. Some of the events that they have hosted include, information sessions on Tech & science, information about evolving tech in the workplace, looking at their Facebook page, I get the impression that the NCW Tech Alliance is more of marketing tech services than digital equity & access.
When searching for Organizations that are advocating for digital access on Instagram, I could find very few profiles dedicated to the cause. When I searched for programs & profiles on Instagram, I came up empty. Once I typed Digital Access, it automatically assumed that I was searching for digital accessories. In my opinion, there is not enough social media activity focused on promoting digital access in rural parts of the United States.
Organizations that encourage digital access can use social media to spread their message and connect with more people. They can boost visibility and draw additional supporters to the cause by producing compelling content, sharing success stories, and utilizing pertinent hashtags. In order to build a network of like-minded advocates working toward a common objective, social media can also be utilized to connect with other organizations and individuals that have similar interests.
